Arcadia A96: between heaven and sea
The Arcadia A96 world debut took place at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 and proved to be more than just a success
She was awarded the World Yacht Trophy as the 'Most innovative yacht' in the category of 80-98 ft boats, and went on to become a finalist in BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards for “Best Interior Design” and “Eco Award”.
The exterior and naval architecture were developed by Arcadia Yachts design division together with Studio Sole, while the interior is the shipyard’s first collaboration with Igor Lobanov, and, as we can see, it is quite successful.
The new model inherited all the proven advantages from her predecessors: the volume and open layout of the A line yachts, the high performance and maneuverability of the Sherpa range, but at the same time the A96 is so innovative that her creators consider her a next step in the evolution of Arcadia lineup.
In addition to four Volvo Penta IPS1350 engines with a total of 4000 hp, delivering a top speed of 23 knots, she is equipped with solar panels of 4.5 Kw. The energy received from the sun is sufficient for powering all onboard systems at anchor, that is for 8-9 hours, when the vessel is used in a ‘hotel’ mode and operates with ‘zero’ emission and… in complete silence.
The semi-displacement hull of fiberglass is 29.07 m in length, the beam is 7.92 m and the draft is 1.77 m. The beam gets even wider, when the main deck stern terraces are folded out, as well as the balconies in the bulwarks closer to midships. The bathing platform, which is large on its own, can increase its area twice. The side floor-to-ceiling sliding windows in the main saloon can be opened to offer a stunning view of the sea.
This concept of being in communion with nature is implemented in the layout of all three decks, offering over 400 sq.m of living space. The exterior and interior spaces are merged seamlessly on the upper and main decks thanks to the sliding doors. The top saloon with a huge screen may serve as an open-air or an indoor cinema. The lower deck has a great view and abundance of natural light provided by large side windows.
The yacht can accommodate ten guests. There is a master suite forward on the main deck with a really spacious bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. The galley, located between the master and the saloon, is really well-appointed, so all the smells and sounds are under control. Below deck there are two guest suits and some service spaces, including three crew cabins.
The interior from Lobanov Design draws inspiration in Art Deco, but in its modern minimalistic interpretation. Despite the ingeniousness of interior objects (potbellied sofas, bizarrely-shaped mirrors and lights) the space is not overloaded with details.
Playing with the idea of being close to nature, Igor Lobanov found that natural textures would be the best kind of décor: tree bark, wild stone, rough surface panels, dune-style textured carpets, whitish rustic textiles that look a little ‘bleached’ by the sun. The interior turned out to be special and neutral at the same time, so that staying on board the Arcadia А96 is psychologically comfortable, but not boring.
With the A96 Italian Arcadia Yachts bet on the popular idea of ‘a house on the water’, but they went even further to offer not just a yacht, but a lifestyle ‘between the sky and the sea’ in a constant communion with nature.
