Sirena 48: a smart, compact crossover
Year after year motor yachts from Turkish Sirena Yachts are getting more and more popular
Semi-displacement (so not very fast), but really comfortable 16-27 m models are in demand among those looking for a comfortable and practical boat, capable of travelling quite far: apart from Turkey another important market for Sirena Yachts is the US. The shipyard entered 2024 with a full orderbook and increased the production volume by 20% compared to 2023, when they built 40 yachts and delivered their boats to customers in the Maldives and New Caledonia for the first time in their history.
At present the most popular yachts are midsize Sirena 58, 68 and 78. However, not long ago there was a debut of a more compact boat - the entry-level Sirena 48. Thanks to her small size the Sirena 48 is aimed at young or first-time yachtsmen. A very simple fact that speaks about this new boat’s popularity is that the shipyard had signed contracts to build 20 hulls even before her world premiere. Let’s take a closer look at her…
Dual Mode hull
Just like with larger Sirena Yachts models, the owners of the Sirena 48 can get ‘the best of both worlds’: it is more correct to call the hull designed by legendary Germán Frers ‘dual mode’, rather than ‘semi-displacement’. It is efficient at low speeds in the displacement mode, and it also permits planing, when reaching 26-27 knots. The cruising speed of the yacht it 15-16 knots, and you can expect a range of over 500 nautical miles.
Flexible layout
The Sirena 48 hull is not just efficient, but really voluminous: there is quite enough interior space for the owner and the guests. All in all, six people can be accommodated comfortably on board. And that’s not all… One of the layouts provides for a crew cabin aft – if all you want to do on board is relax. But if you intend to handle the yacht on your own, then there can be a spacious storage space or a seating area, which opens by raising the transom door.
It is a really unique option for a yacht of this size category: you get a kind of beach club right next to the bathing platform. The platform is hydraulic, it is really wide and can easily store a tender, a jet ski and other water toys.
There are two layout options for the aft cockpit. The first one is traditional with a dining area (a sofa and a table) and exits onto a bathing platform port and starboard. The second one is with modular seats, a convertible table and one access to the platform (starboard).
The flybridge is really wide and long for a yacht of this size, and it allows the guests to make the most of outdoor life. The standard specification features an alfresco dining area aft, a helm and a huge sunpad forward. There is a large wet bar that separates these two zones and that can be equipped with a barbecue, a fridge and other useful extras.
Smart interior
The first thing you see as you enter the main deck from the aft cockpit is a galley. There was a time when this location of the kitchen was much rarer and was a sign of family boats with informal atmosphere.
With time this arrangement got most popular: the galley becomes the centre of gravity on board, as in addition to being a bar, it unites the outdoor area in the cockpit and the dining / lounge area in the saloon. This kind of arrangement fits into the concept of the Sirena 48 perfectly.
The lower deck’s layout is quite traditional, but no less convenient. There is a full-beam master amidships with an extra sofa, a desk and a bathroom of its own. Two guest cabins share the second bathroom: the twin one at the bow and the double one starboard. We should also mention the highest quality of finish and great attention to detail.
The surprising thing is that all of the above fits into a boat under 17 metres in length. But what matters most, is that the creators of the Sirena 48 just guessed their target audience needs perfectly, offering them a boat that has everything you need and nothing in excess.
