As usual, the 17th Moscow Boat Show took place at Crocus Expo. What did it feature this time? An impressive number of visitors, an abundance of Russian boats and not only new models, but new shipyards, too
New names
Nobilis
The debutant of the Moscow Boat Show, Nobilis shipyard (Saint Petersburg), introduced their first boat, the Nobilis 858. The design of this 8.59 powerboat is not typical of the Russian market, dominated by brutal aluminium models. The Nobilis 858 features an aluminium hull and a fiberglass superstructure. The flowing lines of the profile are complete with a reversed bow. Inside there is high quality finish, an ergonomic helm station with a large dashboard, a forward cabin, a mini galley and a head. The Nobilis 858 is meant to accommodate eight people and can be equipped both with an outboard or inboard engine of 300 – 450 hp.
Aviator
The new shipyard from Samara, Aviator, can boast a design and engineering department of their own and specializes in building catamarans of aluminium.
At present the shipyard offers the Aviator 10К model (10 m long and 3.48 m wide) meant for long trips. It is powered by two engines of 200-300 hp and capable of reaching a top speed of 80 km/h. At lower speed of 30-40 km/h the range is up to 600 km. The model features a shallow draft, good seakeeping, easy handling at mooring. The shipyard has plans to start manufacturing a larger, 12-metre catamaran soon. The sea trials are scheduled for August 2024, and the premiere is expected in May 2025.
New models
Berkut 840 Weekend
This boat manufactured by Berkut Marine (Saint Petersburg) was obviously one of the most attractive exhibits at the show thanks to her new wheelhouse design with expansive glazing. With a length of 8.4 metres today it is the largest model of the shipyard, meant for comfortable family leisure. In the saloon, which is not large, but cleverly planned, there is a helm station, a mini galley and a dining area that can be transformed into an extra berth. There is a cabin with a double bed and a head below deck forward. Based on the preliminary data, the speed is about 80 km/h with a 300 hp outboard engine.
Popilov Yachts KOT 14
Today this shipyard from Sevastopol builds the largest motor yachts in Russia. Their model range features displacement models with 15-20 m steel hulls. The fact that at present there are 13 units under construction tells a lot about how in demand they are in the market now. At the Moscow Boat Show the company unveiled a new, 16-meter yacht and announced that they start building catamarans. The first model, KOT 14 (14 m long, 6.15 m wide) with two inboard engines of 180-250 hp can reach a top speed of 14 knots. At a cruising speed of 9 knots the range is 600 km. The yacht is meant to accommodate eight people in four cabins.
Slider 210 ST
Slider range has been supplemented with a model featuring a semi-enclosed sport wheelhouse (unlike the standard 210 version). It is better at protecting from the weather and splashes and enabled doing without a door to the cabin below deck and actually unite it with a cockpit. As a result, there is more space and more light.
Swift Chaser 800
This model with an aluminium hull was first presented at the same show a year ago, but has come to the Moscow Boat Show 2024 in an updated version. The aft cockpit has been enlarged, the aluminium in the saloon has been covered with a soft finish, which definitely made it a lot more comfortable. By the way, Swift Chaser shipyard from Samara promises to introduce two more new models at their “home” Samara Boat Show, which is to take place from 16 to 19 May 2024.
Of course, it is far from the full list of the participants of the Moscow Boat Show that we have mentioned here. Besides, in addition to “just boats” one could see lots of exotics here, which is typical only of the Russian market, like Alligator airboats or some models that are suitable for the Extreme North and unthinkable weather conditions like Aleut Arctic Boats. And that is what makes the Moscow Boat Show special. Yes, compared to some major world shows it is not large, but here one can definitely find something that is not available anywhere else.
