The forecasts are based on over twenty years of collecting data on manta ray movements by Manta Trust team that has been working at the resort since 2005
The resort is located in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, which is home to the world’s largest manta population. One can observe mantas in their natural habitat here and take part in snorkelling expeditions under marine biologists’ supervision.
To identify the periods when mantas are most likely to be seen, Manta Trust experts analyse long-term data on manta ray movements and environmental factors. As a result, they come up with the so called “hot dates”, which are the periods when mass aggregations are most likely to occur close to the Resort.
Manta-On-Call program alerts the guests the moment mantas are spotted and takes them to the snorkelling spot by speedboat immediately. During the trip, Manta Trust experts share their knowledge about manta ray biology and their conservation.
