Nautor Swan 55
About Nautor Swan 55
The first Swan 55 launched in 1970 was designed by Sparkman & Stephens. The current model was created by German Frers
The yard's Italian owner and his long favoured Argentinian designer know their market and are exceedingly comfortable with producing this size and type of yacht. The Swan 55 is a well-rounded performance cruiser that delivers exceptional sailing experience.
The shipyard has a great history in doing just this: yachts which are as at home port hopping the Côte d’Azur as crossing the Atlantic or racing.
This yacht is pleasant to sail, easy to handle and cruise in its standard version and race in its performance set up version, which includes a square top mainsail and a longer bowsprit for the light weather and downwind sails. The tests show that Frers designed the boat to minimise heeling to around 20° and that this is the optimum heel angle for the Swan 55’s hull, to give maximum power going upwind for minimal drag.
Designed for proper ocean cruising, the yacht combines features that are often at odds with one another: space and liveability and, at the same time, all the elements that allow you to move around belowdecks in safety when sailing in heavy weather.
The Swan 55 gives a sensation of refined luxury. An interior layout allows great comfort for long periods of ocean navigation. There are three comfortable cabins with two heads (third head is optional), complete with a separate shower box. There is a unique option of uniting two forward cabins and creating one supersuite that could include a desk, a TV lounge with a sofa or a walk-in head.
