The Etherea concept is based on the natural philosophy idea of a “fifth element”, an ether, which is a luminous, higher substance that connects the material and the spiritual, uniting the four elements of earth, air, fire and water
According to the creators of the concept, staying on board a yacht cannot be limited to one element or one season – life on board should flow smoothly from work to rest, from lively parties to quiet, private reflections.
“She embodies the fifth element: the freedom to live your world as one…an infinite way of life, with the freedom to carry their world wherever the horizon leads,” says the shipyard’s press release.
The Etherea’s exterior design is owed to Studio De Voogt. Thanks to the split-level architecture, there is a sundeck without a bridge deck, which allowed the designers to keep the overall profile rather low.
One of the highlights of the exterior is the aft pool with a transparent bottom, allowing sunlight to flood the spa area, the lounge and the bar in the beach club below.
The extensive use of glass along the perimeter of all deck provides protection from the wind without disrupting the yacht's clean lines. There will even be an all-season winter garden on board with sliding windbreak panels, allowing for a summer breeze or climate control in winter.
The interior of the yacht designed by Italian FM Architettura draws from the natural elements of the Californian coast. The simplicity and lightness of lines is complete with materials that are pleasant to touch and a neutral colour palette of blues, greens and browns.
With rather impressive dimensions (a length of 75.5 m, a beam of 12.3 m and a draft of 3.5 m) the vessel is expected to demonstrate great performance: Veth POD CR1250is engines will deliver a top speed of 14.5 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. With fuel capacity of 145,000 L her range will be 4,500 nautical miles.
The Etherea is ready to build and, according to Feadship, construction can start as soon as she is sold.
