Bringing together its half-a-century experience and the avant-garde style of Roberto Curtó Design studio, American Delta Marine came up with a bold concept of a yacht designed for owners to enjoy the sea
The stylish vessel was designed for the owners who take yachting as adventure and art, when functionality is never in conflict with aesthetics.
“Longtail embodies a refined and contemporary vision of yacht design, where fluid proportions and sculpted volumes merge into a timeless, dynamic silhouette. Inspired by the long tail concept, it recalls the world of aerodynamic forms and elegant performance, reinterpreted through an architectural and marine lens”, says the yard’s statement.
Designer Roberto Curtò, well-known for his vivid imagination embodied in his non-standard projects, offered a futuristic exterior and visual effects. Although normally high sides make vessels look bulkier, thanks to the band of tinted glass here that transitions inconspicuously into a strip of dark paint, the hull looks almost ethereal, and the vessel looks dynamic even when static.
The project prioritises al fresco living, so the beach club takes up the entire long aft section, which descends to the water in stepped terraces and ends in an unusually wide platform, large enough for bathers, storing foils, seabobs and other water toys. In the centre, there is a square pool and part of the sides can fold down to add more space to the beach area. It is interesting to note here that the fold-down sections do not serve just as terraces, but as full-fledged sofas. Similar sofas in the cockpit allow one to adjust it to any mood and occasion, turning it into a spacious dance floor or a panoramic lounge.
At present, there are no details about the vessel’s passenger capacity and performance characteristics. The yard describes the interior as calm and modern, featuring soft natural materials, elegant textures, a neutral colour palette and abundance of natural light coming from large rounded windows and creating a “fresh and sensual” atmosphere on board.
“Working with Roberto has been inspiring. His vision is playful, expressive and confident. He’s pushed us to think differently about what a Delta yacht can be," said Delta Marine Vice president Michelle Jones.
