If the Sea Rover vessel is built one day, she is very likely to become the pioneer and progenitor of a new direction of “wellness yachting”
The owner of the superyacht, Scott Blum, came up with the idea of a wellness yacht after he failed to find a boat that met his expectations of living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. In collaboration with a Dutch designer, Bernd Weel, he created the Sea Rover concept, expected to become “the world’s wellness first superyacht” produced in a limited-edition semi-custom series of no more than 10 units.
As it is often the case with healthy lifestyle products, the exterior of the yacht is quite unassuming.
“We really focused on what is valuable and needed on board to create a design that is super clean, classic, Dutch and will stand the test of time," explains Bernd Weel.
Rather a primitive profile with a high bow and a pavilion-style superstructure, simplified stylistic solutions and quite an ugly radar mast are unlikely to turn heads in marinas, but the main thing about healthy lifestyle products has never been about packaging, but about the contents. And in this respect the Sea Rover has a lot to boast of.
There are numerous wellness ingredients on board, including a gym, a spa, a sports court for basketball on the upper deck aft. The spa has a dual-temperature pool, a jacuzzi, an infrared therapy wall and a dedicated massage area.
The sports court can be configured for playing pickleball, basketball, paddle tennis, volleyball, doing yoga or for outdoor workouts. And when no one is doing sports here, it can also serve as a helipad or a storage place for tenders, water toys and other kinds of equipment.
Another exterior highlight on board the Sea Rover is the beach club, where the guests can have a snack or a healthy smoothie in the bar, or just enjoy the sun.
The interiors of the vessel will be California-style, with lots of wood, stone and textiles of natural colours. Vast windows at the levels of main and upper decks will ensure abundance of natural light, so the interior spaces here are maximum open and airy. The key element of the design will be the staircase that unites all the levels and is enclosed into a glass cube, which serves as a coffee table on the sundeck and lets sun rays in freely.
The main deck is home to a dining area united with a galley and a lounge, which creates a huge space where all those on board can interact with each other, as well as with the cooks and their assistants.
There are five cabins for 10 guests: four below deck and a master cabin on the main deck. The owner of the yacht can also boast a huge dressing room, a Japanese-style bathroom and a steam room.
It is interesting to note that the finishing of all accommodation for a crew of nine is done to the same standards as guest accommodation.
“Sea Rover is for owner who likes to wake up and jump in the water; works out, goes diving, uses all the toys. It’s integrating travel with total well-being – something that has never been done before on a boat. For those who become owners, this is a tremendous investment that will hold its value over time," sums up Scott Blum.
