The platform created in collaboration with Foster + Partners is said to be a real breakthrough for the under 2000 GT superyacht segment, as it offers the volume and features comparable to vessels of over 5000 GT
The new Outlier platform is the third generation of Lateral Naval Architects’s Ultra-Efficient Hull series. It challenges traditional standards and suggests reconsidering conventional superyacht configuration.

As opposed to standard vessel of 75-78 m featuring a two-level machinery, which reduces the volume and level of comfort considerably, the Outlier allows for increasing the liveable space by 16%. It is achieved thanks to the smaller hybrid propulsion system located forward.
According to Lateral’s data, the platform will also reduce the power demand by 20 % and fuel consumption by 17%, while the space amidships is freed up and dedicated to living spaces in the most stable area. Moreover, the area of exterior spaces goes up by 40%.
The new 88.5-metre concept, Outlier I, showcases all the advantages of the technical platform. Among its main highlights, one should mention a three-level atrium, large expanses of glazing, ample exterior deck space and enhanced layout, allowing both for customisation and comfortable guest-crew interaction.

The vessel’s beam is 12.9 m, and the draft is 3.5 m. The superyacht’s provisional top speed is 17.5 knots, the cruising speed is 15.5 knots, while at an eco speed of 11.5 knots she will boast a range of up to 5500 nautical miles.
Lateral underlines the fact that the Outlier I is not just a concept, but a showcase of the platform’s features and capabilities, which can be scaled for both 1500 GT and 950 GT projects.
“Outlier is more than a platform, it’s an invitation to rethink a yacht from the inside out," said senior naval architect at Lateral, Ollie Cooper.
