Dutch Oceanco revealed the 80-metre superyacht concept, created by Enrico Gobbi’s Team For Design as part of Simply Custom project

The Silver Ocean was created as part of the Simply Custom project, launched by Dutch Oceanco shipyard. The key goal of the project is to offer customers an opportunity to choose the design they like and build their own custom superyacht on the basis of the 80-metre superyacht platform under 2500–2700 GT,  developed by Oceanco together with Lateral Naval Architects.

As Enrico Gobbi shared, the Silver Ocean design was inspired by automotive and aviation design. The key feature of the superyacht is the prominent hull and superstructure overhangs, which make the elongated bow even more massive and imposing. The lines are sleek and dynamic, so that the feeling of ‘movement’ of the yacht is preserved even when it is at anchor.

“For me, what’s at the heart of a beautiful, winning design are not details, nor layouts, but the proportions, the volume, the idea," explained Gobbi.

The superyacht features an owner's cabin with a private terrace, a pool and a stairway leading to the helipad on the foredeck. There are six guest cabins that are all located on the main deck to comply with the requirements of the Simply Custom project.

As for the exterior areas, Gobbi has come up with quite a few bold ideas. For example, all the aft bulwarks are made of glass, so that nothing could prevent the guests from admiring the sea view. The pool on the main deck has a glass bulwark, too, to create the feeling that the guests are swimming in the sea. The beach club here is of three parts: a round jacuzzi bath at the entrance, a lounge and a gym.

The Silver Ocean is said to be able to develop a top speed of 16.4 knots, and a cruising one of 14-15 knots. Her expected range is 5000 nautical miles. Propulsion may be different, both conventional and hybrid. Besides, there is a plan to equip Simply Custom superyachts with variable speed generators, offering high fuel efficiency and a capability to run on low-carbon biodiesel fuels like HVO.
