The Maiora 42 Exuma became a challenging task and first yacht interior project for Lebanese fashion house, Elie Saab Group
To work on the yacht’s exterior and layouts, the shipyard (which is part of NEXT Yacht Group) has invited Giorgio Cassetta, whose signature features are a clean profile and non-standard solutions. Fluid lines and vast expanses of glazing make the 42-metre vessel silhouette look dynamic even at anchor.

Striving to find the balance of form and functionality, the designers decided to do without such conventional solutions as guest cabins below deck, “oversized and underused” main saloons and cramped crew quarters. Some of the unique features of the project are the fully glazed upper deck offering 360-degree views and a dedicated exterior lounge area for the crew.

The guest cabins have been removed from the lower deck to the main level to make them more comfortable, add more natural light and an opportunity to communicate for the owner and the guests. There are four VIP cabins located along the central corridor on the main deck with vast windows, and there is a master suite with a private lounge, a bar, a bedroom, two dressing rooms and bathrooms. According to the shipyard, this shift of paradigm is similar to the transition from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, as the spaces are designed not to meet the standards, but to be lived in, enjoyed and shared.

The lower deck is divided into well-organised areas aimed at providing comfort for the crew and efficiency for the yacht. There are crew cabins and a dining area here, comprehensive laundry facilities, a galley with a cold room, a dry storage room and a dumbwaiter. There is a multifunctional space that can be used as a gym, a playroom or a sixth ensuite guest cabin. There is a garage for storing a 6-metre tender and two jet skis.

The upper deck is home not only to the main saloon, but also a pool with a transparent bottom that creates a stunning play of light in the cockpit. It’s interesting to note that two decks feature fold-down bulwarks: the lower one in the beach area section and the upper one round the pool. At the bow, there is an adjustable circular sunbed that follows the sun during the day. And there is also a sundeck of 80 sq.m!

Not much is known about the interior design yet, except that it will feature a lot of Fumo di Londra and Mystic Ocean marbles, bronzed mirrors and teak wood both for flooring and ceilings, but the Elie Saab Group keeps the details under wraps now.
The first 42 Exuma units has already been sold and is in build with a delivery scheduled for the summer of 2027.
With a beam of 8.9 m the superyacht powered by three MTU engines will be capable of reaching a top speed of 30 knots, while a couple of less powerful Volvo Penta engines will deliver a cruising speed of 16 knots and a top speed of 20. All this data is currently provisional.
