Captain Arctic will be the world’s first close to zero-carbon emission luxury superyacht on the market of expedition yachts. The vessel will be available for charter all year round starting from December 2026
Captain Arctic will be operated by a highly experienced crew of polar experts well aware of what modern polar travellers might need.
Each of the yacht’s five sails will be holding 2 x 100 sq.m solar panels to power both the engines and the hotel mode. Thusm the yacht will be capable of cruising without any noise, vibration or smell. In case there is no wind or lack of solar energy, she can run on vegetable oil. According to the manufacturer, Captain Arctic will save 90% CO2 compared to any vessel of the region.
The superyacht can sleep up to 30 guests in 16 cabins, one of which is wheelchair accessible, as well as a team of five guides. Captain Arctic will be cruising off-the-beaten-path routes to help the guests live in the moment and experience nature in its purest form, whilst connecting with local communities.
Each expedition will be led by skilled polar navigators who will organise a wealth of unforgettable experiences: from observing polar bears and hiking on the ice edge to enjoying hot chocolate in a driftwood hut and kayaking the icy waters to the backdrop of a deep blue glacier. For even more fun, Captain Arctic has a huge arsenal of water toys.
The yacht interiors are owed to Joséphine Fossey, renowned for her work on the Iconic Houses collection, so guests can expect a warm colour palette, a mid-century design sensibility with Swedish-French influences.
The idea was to make Captain Arctic feel like a cosy home one can retreat to after a day of exploring the Arctic. Each suite has windows for the guests to enjoy views out onto the mesmeric polar views.
The guests will be offered a fitness room, a library, a 1920s-style bar, a silent room with stunning views and a polar plunge with ice-cold sea water. All the guests will be able to get together for a meal and socializing in a spacious dining room. There will also be an onboard science lab, focused on advancing discovery and environmental protection of the polar regions.
The preliminary schedule for the first cruises has already been drawn up. On 4-11 December 2026 Captain Arctic will go on a cruise around northern Norway from Tromsö. The Christmas tour from 18 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 will start from Tromsö, too. From January to March Captain Arctic will go on a few more cruises around Norway and then head for Svalbard, where she will stay till the end of August. At the end of September 2027 the yacht will set for Greenland.
Private charter of CAPTAIN ARCTIC costs from €590 000 to 955 000 per week on an all-inclusive basis, and 5% of profits will be shared with charitable entities focused on Arctic protection.
