Ferretti Yachts
About Ferretti Yachts shipyard
Ferretti Yachts was founded in 1968 by brothers Alessandro and Norberto Ferretti. Being successful in luxury car business they decided to try boat dealership that was developing rapidly at that time. They didn’t spend much time selling other shipyards’ boats and soon came up with their own model: a 10-meter motorsailer Khamsin with a wooden hull. Early in the 1970s Ferretti Yachts switched to fiberglass hulls, but went on making sailing boats for a long time, until they finally switched to motor ones completely in 1982. Creating a variety of models – sport, flybridge, fishing ones - Ferretti Yachts actually laid down a lot of fundamental principles of architecture and interior layouts, many of which have become common and are still actively applied. Today the company has grown into a huge conglomerate. Apart from the flagship Ferretti brand, it includes such brands as Pershing, Itama, Riva, Mochi Craft, CRN, Custom Line and Wally. This allows Ferretti Group to build boats of all kinds and sizes and target the market niche of classic planing flybridge yachts that are considered the shipyard’s recognized specialty.
Highlights
Ferretti yachts look quite classic, but they are valued for harmonious design, build quality and innovational, but not too radical interior solutions. Ferretti Yachts production site is located on the eastern coast of Italy, in Forli, not far from Rimini. Thanks to significant investment in research and development back in the 1990s there appeared a large-scale engineering division, Ferretti Group Engineering Department, which deals with design and new technologies. This non-stop generator of ideas works for all the brands of Ferretti Group, which regularly set new trends and standards for the whole of yachting market. One of the latest developments of the department is a series of new crossover yachts Ferretty InFYnito.
Achievements
Ferretti Yachts is the ‘author’ of several elements that one just can’t imagine a modern yacht without. The shipyard invented the swimming platform, it was the first to use large portholes in the hull and it is them who came up with the concept of placing the galley at aft end of the saloon and connecting it with the aft cockpit, making it one of the main spots for communication and rest. Today it is the most popular solution for family flybridge yachts.
