About Sunreef Yachts shipyard
French entrepreneur with Polish citizenship Francis Lapp founded Sunreef Yachts in 2002. Up to now he has been the president and the driving force of the company, located in the very heart of the old Gdansk Shipyard, famous for its shipbuilding traditions and experienced staff. Since the very beginning Sunreef Yachts has been heading for large multihulls construction as an ideal ‘platform’ for longer journeys, luxurious, but at the same time eco-friendly yachting. In 2023 they presented their first power catamaran, the 22-m Sunreef 74 CHE, and in 2008 they made a 21-m power double deck catamaran – 70 Sunreef Power JAMBO with an oceanic range. Since that time Sunreef Yachts models have been growing in size steadily, which allowed them to enter the superyacht segment.
Highlights
Today Sunreef is the leader in luxury sailing and power multihull yacht construction. And if they do have some competitors in the mid-size serial boats segment, Sunreef Yachts is almost a monopolist in the segment of large multihulls. The shipyard has a design department of their own, where they develop two models per year. Depending on the size, Sunreef catamarans are built of composite or aluminium alloy. Paying particular attention to the environmental aspect, the company has created a special range called Sunreef Eco, powered by hybrid propulsion and relying largely on sustainable sources of energy. For instance, Sunreef Yachts has developed their own patented technology of composite integrated solar panels. This allowed them to integrate the panels almost all over the hull surface. They also use wind turbines and high-performance kites.
Achievements
Sunreef yachts, technologies and initiatives have got some of the most significant environmental and design awards in the industry.
