About Wally shipyard

Italian yachtsman and entrepreneur Luca Bassani founded Wally Yachts in 1994. The key principles of their avant garde design are high technology and the conviction that form should follow function. Initially the shipyard designed and built only sailing yachts: Wally boats are among the world’s most luxurious and fastest sailing yachts and they take part in famous regattas as a separate class of their own, too: founded in 1999, Wally Class allows Wally maxi yachts owners to compete with each other as part of larger regattas. Later the shipyard almost turned the market upside down, offering motor boats of extremely unusual, state-of-the-art, aggressive design. Early in 2019 Wally became part of Italian Ferretti Group. Considerable investment boosted the brand’s development and the expansion of the model range.

Highlights

Today Wally continues manufacturing both sailing and motor yachts. Wally’s motor model range includes Wallytender – open 13-15 m dayboats; Wallywhy – 21-27 m hybrid yachts that look like spacecraft, as well as Wallypower motor yachts and superyachts with aggressive outlines typical of Wally. The sailing model range includes a 33-45 m cruiser Wallywind (33 – 45), and a far more compact racing Wallynano. While working on the new project, Wallyrocket 51, the shipyard was determined to create the world’s fastest race boat on corrected time. This super lightweight carbon yacht with a water ballast system is aimed at getting the highest rating in ORC and IRC regattas.

Achievements

Thanks to their design Wally yachts are 100% recognizable. One of their best-known models, Wally Power Galeocerdo 118 built in 2003, won the Millennium Yacht Design Award in the Layout of the Third Millennium category. And their 50m sailing superyacht, Better Place, in a special Bugatti blue colour, which was launched in 2012, was the world’s largest carbon sloop at that time.
