The official world premiere of the new model by Italian Pardo Yachts – the Pardo Endurance 72 – took place in the spring of 2025 at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in the US

Some have seen this boat before: in August 2024 she was delivered to Barcelona as a hospitality yacht for Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli during the 37th America's Cup. The image of her sleek silhouette fuelled curiosity both among the press and yacht owners. And now, with the release of official photos, this curiosity can be fully satisfied.

Concept

The 22-metre Pardo 72 from Endurance range was conceived as a luxurious trawler type yacht. The concept is not new, but it is invariably successful, as it blends the best of both worlds. The features drawn from trawlers are excellent seakeeping, a high level of safety, a large range and some design elements. For instance, this time it is the superstructure with an inverted windscreen, which improves visibility in challenging weather conditions. In combination with a reverse bow (which is a signature feature of all Pardo Yachts models), this solution adds some brutality to the Pardo 72.  Overall, the boat’s design remains very elegant, and that is the best thing about such models, when behind a beautiful exterior there are great travel opportunities.

This is not an expedition yacht in the traditional meaning, because the Pardo 72 is meant for the Mediterranean, or at least for a warm climate. However, she is capable of really long-range cruises and does not lack anything on board in terms of comfort. Besides, thanks to numerous customisation opportunities, she can be adjusted in accordance with individual needs and preferences.

Cruising opportunities: efficient hull and low fuel consumption

One of the Endurance 72’s numerous strengths is definitely her optimised hull. Based on extensive fluid dynamics studies, Pardo Yachts has come up with the so called “warped” hull with a progressively decreasing deadrise angle from bow to stern. This design enhances dynamic stability while planing in rough seas. The IPS drives ensure excellent maneuverability, while joystick control simplifies handling and docking even with a minimal crew.

Owners can choose out of two propulsion options. The standard one includes twin Volvo Penta D13 with IPS-1050 drives of 800 hp each, delivering a top speed of up to 23 knots. A more powerful option offers twin 1000 hp IPS-1350 drives, increasing the top speed up to 25 knots. But it’s not the speed records that the Pardo 72 is meant for, but an optimal cruising mode, meaning a perfect balance of speed, fuel consumption and range. According to the information from the shipyard, with the optional configuration of twin IPS-1350 drives, this “eco-speed” is 12 knots, while rather modest fuel consumption of 80 litres per hour and a range of 900 nautical miles. The fuel capacity is 6000 L, and water capacity is 1200 L, which allows one to keep cruising for quite a long period of time.

Interior and layout

The Pardo Endurance 72’s interiors were entrusted to Italian Burdissocapponi Yachts & Design studio, which has reinterpreted the design of the Endurance 60, taking into account the larger size, functional spaces and contemporary trends.

The first place one gets on board is the exterior aft cockpit with sliding doors leading to the saloon. There is usually a galley here on board the 15-30-metre yachts.

In this respect the Pardo 72 is no exception, as this position of the galley allows one to serve both the exterior aft cockpit and the dining area in the saloon. Besides, it is the most “social” place on board.

The dining area is inside, opposite the galley, but one can also have a meal outdoors here: there is a huge fold-down balcony right opposite, which means that the wall of the saloon can actually be removed completely.

Further on towards the bow there is a lounge and a helm station, as well as two staircases. The one that is closer to the helm station leads to two guest cabins at the bow. The central staircase gives access to the day head, a VIP guest cabin and a large, full-beam master cabin.

Four spacious cabins for a yacht of this size is a lot. However, to make the lower deck more comfortable, the designers had to use a trick. The cabin and the central part of the bathroom with a double sinke in the master cabin are divided by a sliding glass door. It lets the daylight in freely from the side porthole and extends the cabin visually. The shower and the toilet are separated with frosted partitions. The trick is not new (it was first applied about 15 years ago), but it works fine and has been implemented on the Pardo Endurance 72 efficiently.

Another smart layout solution in the master cabin is the built-in desk with a TV lift, dividing the sleeping and dressing areas. Thanks to this smart zoning, no space is wasted and the cabin feels really generous.

Quite unusually, the crew cabin for two is located at the bow and has a private access from the deck.

The Pardo Endurance 72’s interiors are a masterful balance of the warmth of wooden and contemporary materials. The key structural elements (deck floor, ceiling and wall panels) are of grey walnut, complete with light furniture and textiles of neutral shade with pops of yellow, burgundy and terracotta. The dual-layer lighting system includes an indirect lighting scheme, integrating LED bars into the ceiling and spotlight pairs recessed into ceiling panels for accent illumination.

Deck spaces

Exterior lounges are abundant, too: there is enough space both for get-togethers and spending some time on one’s own. The aft cockpit mentioned above features fold-down balconies, thanks to which the area of this exterior space increases up to 40 sq.m.

There is another more private lounge with a sofa, a table and a sunbed on the foredeck.

At the very top, there is a flybridge of 27 sq.m, offering everything one might need to relax in the sun: a bar, a dining area for eight, a sunbed, sofas with storage space under them. It can all be configured in accordance with the owner’s needs. There is also an upper helm station equipped as generously as the main one.

As an option, the flybridge can be equipped with an adjustable-louver T-top, which is a new exclusive option for Endurance range. It is also possible to use an electrically operated retractable bimini – either at the stern or retracted from the T-top.

And finally, there is a stern garage capable of accommodating a tender up to 4 m and equipped with an efficient launch and retrieval system. A large and capacious tender is extremely useful on long-range journeys both for forays ashore with a large group of friends and for going shopping. Although the Pardo 72 is really beautiful boat, you mainly admire her for the practicality and relevance to the purpose that she’d been designed for: long and pleasurable cruising.
