The fitting works are still in progress, as the superyacht is prepared for sea trials before the delivery to the owner
Project 1012 is the first Feadship superyacht belonging to Hybrid Electric Class, which means it is equipped with a hybrid electric propulsions system, where conventional diesel engines are coupled with electric motors.
Built for a repeat Feadship owner who came to the custom project with “informed requests based on his long experience of yachting”, the boat features the design by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, working in close collaboration with the owner’s designers, and the naval architecture by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects.
According to the yard, the exterior styling was meticulously designed with very specific owner’s input. Despite the overall classic profile, the hull and the superstructure, as well as expansive glazing and the bow shape look quite modern thanks to the simplicity and strictness of lines.
The interior spaces have been meticulously planned, as the yacht has been designed for family use. Natural materials and finishes are used throughout the yacht, and despite the impressive volume the spaces are quite cosy.
One of the standout features of the superyacht is her vast aft beach club. In fact, it was one of the main reasons that the owner made a decision to build this custom yacht, and it occupies over a quarter of the Project 1012 total length. The large stern platform and two fold-down side platforms form a lounge space of about 165 sq.m. Two side staircases connect the beach club with a recreation area on the main deck, featuring a pool and an open-air lounge that can be shaded by the overhang.
The guest cabins are located on the main deck forward, while there is a master suite, a family lounge and a wellness area on the upper levels. The sundeck can serve as an observation point with a comfortable sofa and sunpads, while two rescue tenders can be stored in the stern section.
Between the engine room and the beach club there is a side garage for two 10- metre tenders, a ski boat and various water toys. There are crew quarters forward.
“Working with the experienced owner, designers and owner’s team has been a professional pleasure,” says Albert Abma, Feadship project manager. “Gathering the operational experience of the owner’s team with the yard’s building experience has resulted in this modern-classic, state-of-the-art and full custom new Feadship”.
Project 1012’s propulsion plant and onboard energy management has been developed incorporating state-of-the-art Feadship technology. As it has already been reported, she is fully compliant with Hybrid Electric Class, and comprises two main engines and shaft-driven fixed pitch propellers, coupled with PTO/PTI electric motors of 560kW each and 1MW of Li-ion batteries.
The yard says that the e-motors can work as shaft generators to produce electricity to serve the hotel loads, recharge the battery bank or serve for low-speed navigation.
