Dubbed ‘a sportfisher on steroids’ the superyacht was commissioned by an experienced yachtsman and passionate fisherman. One can only guess, why the owner wanted a six-deck vessel having a gross tonnage of almost 500 GT for fishing, but the Dutch shipyard claims that Project 406 is equally good "for both high-end sportsfishing and luxurious living".

"Not only is she the largest but, without doubt, the most bespoke, finely appointed, meticulously engineered and most impressive true sportfish yacht anywhere in the world – with all the amenities expected of a superyacht," said a Royal Huisman spokesperson.

Photographers managed to capture the vessel in transit from the shipyard’s facility in Vollenhove to Amsterdam, where it will be prepared for the launch. All the onboard systems and technical equipment have already been installed and tested.

The all-aluminium superyacht is a project of Dutch Vripack studio. It has the exterior features typical of sportfisher, as well as an elongated bow, an open cockpit aft and ample fishing gear. It is known that the owner has plans to hunt large predatory fish like swordfish and marlin.

There will be a viewing platform at the top, a dedicated fishing area aft and she will be illuminated beautifully when the sun sets.

To bring the project to life Royal Huisman had to team up with the owner's representatives and involve outside specialists for expertise on sportfishing and technical aspects.

"This is an exceptional brief," said Vripack co-creative director Bart M Bouwhuis. "And the result is an exceptional boat. It has the true proportions and long flaring bow of a typical American sportfish boat paired with the harmonious feel of a luxurious superyacht. It’s a supersized model with super chic curves, realised on a grand scale."

It is known that after the launch the yacht will go on intensive sea trials and will be delivered to the owner on their completion.
