The Turkish authorities believe that the state-of-the-art infrastructure in Gazipaşa will contribute to the development of year-round tourism and boost local economy
It is expected that thanks to Gazipaşa Gold Marina, the town of Gazipaşa in the Turkish province of Antalya, which used to be more of an agricultural region rather than a tourist destination, with time will transform into a fashionable resort on par with Bodrum and Belek.
Gazipaşa is located about 180 km from Antalya and about 40 km from Alanya. It is quite an important port, concluding a chain of ports on the route of cruise ships and other vessels from the Aegean and Western Mediterranean Sea to other countries. At the opening ceremony, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, said that with Gazipaşa, Turkey’s marina network now stretches from Yalova to Seferihisar, Çeşme to Didim, and Mersin to Kaş and Alanya.
The area of the new marina is well-protected by the Taurus Mountains on the land side and monolithic breakwaters on the sea side: in addition to the 600-metre main breakwater, there is also a secondary, 193-metre one.
Gazipaşa Gold Marina can accommodate up to 208 vessels under 40 m. There is a a 676-metre quay and a 320-metre floating pier. The marina provides access to water, fuel, electricity and high-speed internet. Among the services offered to yacht owners there are not just engine, electronics and mechanical repairs, but also paintwork and even cleaning the underwater part of the vessels from fouling.
The total area of the facility is over 3,800 sq.m, including mechanical and electrical systems, drainage and treatment infrastructure, fire safety measures and landscaped areas. Visitors and yacht owners will have access to several restaurants, shopping centers and event spaces.
According to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, over the past 23 years, Turkey has increased its number of marinas from 41 to 65 and expanded mooring capacity from 8,500 to around 26,000, which supports growth in yacht and cruise tourism in the region.
