In 2022 Montenegro stopped selling tax-free fuel to foreign-flagged yachts
Now the situation is changing: in 2025 this benefit will be reinstated both for private and commercial (charter) yachts. The new regulations are due to take effect in January 2025, after the official publication, along with further details on the specific terms.
Taking into the account Montenegro’s effort to become one of the top yachting centres in the Mediterranean, this move is more than justified. Bringing back duty-free fuel will deliver substantial savings both to yacht owners and operators, making Montenegro a much more attractive destination.
Duty-free refuelling will be available in the following marinas:
- Porto Montenegro in the city of Tivat, capable of accommodating yachts of all sizes, including the largest superyachts
- Portonovi on the coast of the Bay of Kotor, with 238 berths for yachts up to 90 m
- AD Marina Bar: the southernmost marina in Montenegro in the city of Bar, offering over 1000 berths for yachts under 45 m
