After a successful launch in April and sea trials in June, the custom Drizzle superyacht has been delivered to her owner
The exterior and interior of the superyacht are owed to Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, while the naval architecture comes from De Voogt Naval Architects. The vessel was built for the yard’s repeat customer, who already had a very clear idea of what kind of new vessel he wanted based on his previous ownership experience.
With a hull of steel and a superstructure of aluminium, the Drizzle is the first vessel of the Dutch yard to belong to Hybrid Electric Class. She is powered by two main engines along with shaft-driven fixed pitch propellers, coupled with PTO/PTI electric motors of 560kW each and 1MW bank of Li-ion batteries.
The e-motors produce electricity to serve the hotel mode and recharge the battery bank, as well as for low-speed navigation while the generators or batteries generate the required electrical power.
The superyacht’s strict and well-defined modern-classic profile can be unmistakably identified as a Feadship. The white superstructure contrasts beautifully with the dark blue hull and tinted glazing, while the clean lines form a simple, but elegant appearance.
In line with an explorer-style, the yacht's aft section has been left open: there is a huge pool and a lounge, partly shaded by the upper deck’s overhang. The beach club, which was really important for the owner, is vast, and can be extended to 165 sq.m at anchor with the help of side platforms.
There is another exterior area on the sundeck, which is home to an observation deck with forward-facing sofas and sun-loungers for the guests to admire the seascape.
At present not much is known about the interiors. The owner wanted them to resemble an "understated family home" and has even involved his own designers, who, together with Sinot, focused on the use of natural materials.
The master suite, family lounge and wellness area are located on the upper deck, while the lower deck forward has been dedicated to the crew and is home to the crew mess, galley and crew cabins.
“Working with the experienced owner, designers and owner's team has been a professional pleasure. Gathering the operational experience of the owner's team with the yard’s building experience has resulted in this modern-classic, state-of-art and full-custom new Feadship", said Albert Abma, Feadship project manager.
Between the engine room and the beach club there is a side garage for two 10-metre tenders, a ski boat and a lot of water toys.
