The SX120 will also be the world’s first superyacht to feature the IPS Professional Platform with four 1000 hp engines by Volvo Penta, which will enhance the vessel’s fuel efficiency and reduce the environmental impact
Just like other crossovers in the SX range, the new superyacht combines the features of both flybridge and expedition yachts. Thanks to this, the yard managed to integrate exterior and interior spaces seamlessly, to enhance the vessel’s adaptability and offer sleek, contemporary aesthetics.

The SX120 will be the first composite yacht equipped with a new IPS Professional Platform by Volvo Penta unveiled at boot Düsseldorf in 2024. The innovative system with twin 1000 hp engines per pod, delivers the performance of larger engines with a smaller footprint and reduced fuel consumption.
Along with the technical innovations, the SX120 can also boast some bold designer solutions. For instance, the beach club of 70 sq. m with fold-down side terraces, spaces with a 360° panoramic view from the upper deck, a sundeck with configurable Smart Island seating group, which can function as a lounge or a sunbathing area.

Another highlight of the new yacht is the pool in the beach area, which can be both open and enclosed thanks to the special lift and slide mechanism.
“SX120 represents the natural evolution of a range that has changed the way yachting is conceived and redefined the experience of living on board, introducing a new idea of space, livability and connection with the sea. The new flagship of the SX line combines functionality and aesthetics, simplicity and elegance, performance and sustainability in a single product. In addition, the SX120 is the first yacht of a big size to integrate Volvo Penta's new IPS Professional Platform, a compact and efficient system prepared for the use of hybrid energy sources, and designed to improve performance, autonomy and comfort while sailing. This innovative propulsion platform allows for the achievement of certainly unique design solutions related to the use of efficient PODs drive even on large yachts,”- said Tommaso Vincenzi, Sanlorenzo CEO.
The SX120’s elegant design is the result of another collaboration with Zuccon International Project and Piero Lissoni.
“The Sanlorenzo SX120 is a project that is a manifesto of the evolutionary path that the SX range has taken in recent years”, said Bernardo Zuccon of Zuccon International Project that was in charge of the yacht’s exterior.

The spaces across four levels of the vessel have been reimagined with the larger volume in mind, particularly aft and forward. Thus, one of the yacht’s highlights, is the beach club of 40 sq. m, which is 30 sq. m larger thanks to the fold-down side terraces.
Next to the beach area there is a comfortable large saloon, where the guests can have some rest from the sun. The lower deck is also home to a compact hammam, crew quarters and four guest cabins, one of which can opened and function as a lounge if necessary.

The central art object located on the main deck is the sculptural wooden staircase created by Piero Lissoni. The dining area at this level has been moved to the cockpit. It is open on three sides and can accommodate up to 14 guests.
The master suite located on the main deck forward, can boast stunning sea views, as well as a private terrace, which can be used as a sunbathing area or a patio.

The upper deck saloon features vast expanses of glazing and can be used as a dining area, a home cinema or a play room. There is a panoramic lounge aft.
For the first time on the yacht of this type the flybridge is transformed into a sundeck. The new concept of a modular seating system, the Smart Island, allows for flexible configuration and can be equipped with additional features if necessary.

Piero Lissoni’s interior design features the ceilings with a series of dense wooden cusps that continue vertically along the walls, creating an architectural effect of continuity and depth. Some are with a steel-effect film to give the spaces a more contemporary feel.
The floors alternate between parquet and carpet, while in the bathrooms a marble-effect ceramic material was chosen, combining aesthetics and functionality. In the master suite, which stands out for more intense tones and a slightly higher ceiling, there is another distinctive element: the backlit headboard designed as a decorative screen, which separates the bed area from the closet, ensuring comfort and privacy.

“The SX120 is the latest addition to the SX family, which I think is the most creative range in living memory in yachting in the last 30 years. The SX120 is a spectacular floating architecture. We took all the things the other SXs taught us and put them here. It has beaches, floors that interconnect, big openings...a real floating villa in the body of an absolutely extraordinary project that the SX is," said Piero Lissoni.
With four Volvo Penta D13- IPS 2700 IMO III of 1000 hp, the yacht’s provisional top speed will be 23 knots, while the range at an eco speed will be around 2000 nautical miles.
The model’s official premiere is scheduled for the Cannes Yachting Festival 2025.
