The RAW 105 will become a pioneer in the new series of Recreational All-Weather Watercraft by the Italian shipyard, which will not just offer new aesthetics, but also an opportunity to navigate in diverse conditions
Italian CdM shipyard announced both the series and the RAW 102 explorer model during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024. The unusual and somewhat too contemporary exterior of the vessel designed in collaboration with Giorgio M. Cassetta and his Cassetta Yacht Designers studio was so unlike the Italian shipyard that it seemed that the series was to remain on paper only.
However, according to Vasco Buonpensiere, CdM CEO, the negotiations about the construction of the first unit in the series were already well underway at that time. “We chose to wait until even the smallest details were finalised before making the official announcement of the sale," he explained.
In the course of the negotiations, the first unit grew up from 102 to 105 feet, but the main idea remained the same: to find balance between size and functionality.
The RAW 105 was conceived as a yacht that would inspire one to explore remote waters regardless of weather conditions, so the exterior aesthetics is of secondary importance here. It is no coincidence that the abbreviation used for the name of the seried, RAW (“Recreational All-Weather Watercraft”) also means something natural, pristine.
“We started from considering what the yacht should offer in term of arrangements, functionality and technical equipment then we passed to the further level that is the creation of exteriors and interiors that matched the chosen philosophy,” explains Giorgio M Cassetta.
The unusual exterior design with expansive glazing is explained by the desire to create a genuine, seaworthy explorer with a friendly, inviting look, thus making the yacht equally suitable for adventurous expeditions, as well as for leisurely cruising in more familiar waters.
On board, the focus is on luxury and comfort, and one of the RAW 105’s highlights is the layout of interiors maximal use of space and volume.
There are five cabins for 10 guests. The master suite is located on the main deck, while the rest of the accommodation is below.
Among the all-weather spaces one can mention the cockpit on the main deck, which was designed as a veranda over the sea and thanks to the glass doors can be made both enclosed and open. This space can be easily united with the saloon or the beach club. All the exterior spaces on board were designed as versatile and maximum free for the owner to tailor them to their needs and preferences.
The RAW 105’s high bow section can accommodate two 5-metre tenders and water toys, or one can free this space for four sun loungers right in front of the wheelhouse
The sundeck is fully open, so that one could store all kinds of equipment here, or use it as a compact helipad.
The RAW 105 will be powered by twin Caterpillar C18 ACERT IMO tier III engines with provisional speeds of 13 and 11 knots in the maximum and cruising modes respectively, and has a range of 5000 nautical miles.
The delivery of the first RAW 105 to her owner is scheduled for 2026.
