Dutch Heesen has announced the keel laying of the first unit in its new 50-metre series
The 50m Steel FDHF series was first presented at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2023. Construction on the first yacht known as Project Grace began on spec, so there is no owner yet, but she is available for sale with a delivery scheduled for Quarter 1 of 2027.
The steel hull will be welded off-site, at another Dutch Talsma Shipyard so as to avoid cross-contamination with Heesen's aluminium yachts in build. When the hull is complete, it will be delivered to Heesen facility in Oss.
The exterior and interior design of the new model are owed to British Harrison Eidsgaard studio, which focused on making it look maxium pared-down.
Project Grace has four decks and features one of the largest sundecks in her class, capable of accommodating up to 20 guests. There will also be a unique coffee table here, which is actually an atrium skylight, too. There is an infinity pool aft, while the foredeck remains free with a garage for a tender and water toys below.
Project Grace can sleep 12 passengers in six cabins, including the owner’s suite. There are five more cabins for a crew of nine.
Thanks to the FDHF (Fast Displacement Hull Form), Project Grace can reach a speed of 15.5 knots, which is quite high for a steel yacht. At a crusiing speed of 12 knots her provisional range is 3800 nautical miles.
