Volvo Penta has announced the launch of a new hybrid package designed to integrate electric and traditional power

It will be made on the basis of Volvo IPS D13 and available for delivery late in 2025. The system will come in two configurations suitable for yachts of various types and sizes. The twin installation will allow one to use this solution for the boats of up to 21 m, while triple and quad installation can be fitted on vessels of 24 meters and larger.

The hybrid-electric package will allow for almost silent cruising, and provide an opportunity to operate in specially protected marine reserves and use the battery power instead of a generator at night. The new system features all the latest Volva Penta technologies like Joystick Driving  and Assisted Docking.

The system switches between electric and diesel power automatically, based on operational needs. This allows for different drive modes, including Pure Electric and Hybrid modes.

The package is controlled with the help of EVC system (Electronic Vessel Control) by Volvo Penta. The status of the battery, the drive mode and all kinds of other important information will all be shown on the new Glass Cockpit display. The EVC system can also support remote diagnostics and software updates.
