A division of Azimut|Benetti Group and one of the benchmark yards for refit and repair work, Lusben has opened a new inspection pit for sailing yachts at one of its production facilities in Livorno

With a length of 12 m, a width of 3.5 m and a depth of 8.5 m, it is the largest pit in the Mediterranean, which will allow Lusben to expand its range of services.

The large size of the pit makes it easier to carry out all routine and extraordinary maintenance operations, including painting, as well as work on keels. Besides, the new structure is extremely versatile. On the one hand, it allows work on sailing yachts up to 70 metres. On the other hand, thanks to two concrete slabs that cover the pit, it can be used for work on motor yachts and thus extends the space available at Lusben’s Livorno shipyard for “classic” refit operations.

According to Gianni Paladino, Lusben Commercial Director, “this major investment in the Livorno site, following others completed in recent years, confirms the Group’s intention to expand the Lusben division and, in the coming years, consolidate its position as a benchmark for refit work in the Mediterranean. Now we have the space, the technology and the people to achieve this important objective”.
