About Sanlorenzo shipyard
The yard was founded not far from Florence in 1958 under the name of Cantieri Navali San Lorenzo, but the modern history of the company started in 1985 with the launch of SL range of fiberglass planing yachts. In 2005 the shipyard was acquired by Massimo Perotti, its present owner and leader of the company. Having shortened the name to Sanlorenzo, he embarked on the task of large-scale production development and model range expansion. Thanks to his visionary thinking and bold ideas Perotti brought in a famous studio Zuccon International Project, as well as some of the best designers and architects not from the yachting world. As a result, there appeared yachts with a fundamentally new look and a new approach to using the space onboard. He was also one of the first to sense the growing trend for explorer yachts, which quickly made Sanlorenzo one of the leading manufacturers of explorers. On offering the world its super successful SX model range, Sanlorenzo became the inventor of the concept of crossover yachts that combine the features of explorers and flybridge yachts. Thanks to excellent build quality and individual approach to every yacht Sanlorenzo holds a leading position among global manufacturers of yachts over 24 m.
Highlights
With its four manufacturing sites in Viareggio, La Spezia, Ameglia and Massa, Sanlorenzo is capable of building the yachts varying in type and size and out of all possible materials: fiberglass, steel and aluminium. Sanlorenzo production yachts are divided into the following ranges: SL (planing yachts of 24-38 m), SD (displacement long range yachts of 28-38 m), SX (crossover yachts of 24-34 м) and SP (a new generation of sport coupe yachts of 33 m that combine speed, energy efficiency and new layout principles). Sanlorenzo superyachts built on engineering platforms have the following ranges: Steel (with steel hulls of 50-73 m), Alloy (totally aluminium yachts with fast displacement hulls of 44 м), Explorer (expedition yachts of 47 m) and X-Space (five-deck yachts with interiors that are vast for a yacht of 44 m). All the yachts can be equipped not only with traditional diesel engines, but also with hybrid diesel-electric propulsion.
Achievements
Almost every Sanlorenzo yachts has an impressive list of international awards – and not only for design. The shipyard never stops working with innovative technologies and was one of the first to start building yachts with hydrogen fuel cells. Apart from all other advantages Sanlorenzo offers a highest level of customization. As they say it in the shipyard, «there can’t be two identical Sanlorenzo yachts» - even when they are production models.
