Actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Sadie Sink have become ambassadors of the 2025 Prada Re-Nylon Collection
Prada Group worked on this innovative product as part of its Sea Beyond eco-program, realized in collaboration with Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (UNESCO-IOC).
For Prada nylon is not just a fabric, but a symbol of revolution: back in 1984, when Miuccia Prada launched the first nylon range, it was something unheard of for high fashion. With time, this underrated fabric conquered the catwalks worldwide.
The 21st century brought a technological revolution: nylon production grew more and more eco-friendly. Prada Re-Edition collection items are made of Econyl, made by recycling the plastic collected in the ocean. Old fishing nets, textiles and other kinds of waste are purified and recycled to produce the fabric that is like silk to touch.
The 2025 collection offers 191 thoughtfully designed pieces: bags and backpacks, jackets, hats and other accessories. The colour range is mainly black with some splashes of "Aviator Blue" and "Bottle Green" referring to the sea and bottles collected on the shore.
As part of Sea Beyond initiative, Prada has also unveiled a series of films made in collaboration with National Geographic CreativeWorks and are aimed at raising people’s awareness of ecology and ocean preservation. As ambassadors of the project, Hollywood stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Sadie Sink visited Norway and Mexico to tell the audience more about the ecosystems of these regions and pollution threatening the marine environment and efforts to protect it.
