Initially, the Lontano was supposed to be built on the basis of an already existing 78-metre commercial vessel, which would later be restructured and re-equipped
On second thoughts, the British designers decided to give up the idea of using a donor hull and to start the project from scratch. Firstly, the explorer’s length was increased up to 89 m, the boat goat a high, inverted X-bow similar to the one we have seen on Olivia O, and a robust reliable steel hull.
Then, the designers decided it would be unfair to skimp on glazing, and added lots of spaces with floor-to-ceiling windows both forward and aft.
To keep the guests entertained on long voyages the Lontano offers them a swimming pool, a beach club, a gym, a spa and a helipad. Another option for entertainment is fold-out balconies at different levels, allowing one to admire amazing unobstructed sea views.
The Lontano will offer accommodation for 22 guests in 11 cabins, including a master suite. She can also accommodate a crew of up to 13.
There are exterior lounging areas on the sundeck ad upper decks aft, while tenders and water toys can be stored on the main deck.
With twin 4500 hp engines that can work on various kinds of fuel, the Lontano’s provisional speed is up to 16 knots, while her provisional cruising speed is 12 knots. The starting price for the project is about 106 mln pounds, and the construction is expected to take 36 months. The desingers working with Kobus Naval Design naval architects are certainly ready to adjust the Lontano to the owner’s needs, and not only in terms of interior, but in terms of length and exterior of the vessel, too.
