The first model in the new family of performance yachts designed by Turkish BAZ Yacht Design is said to offer both exhilarating performance and comfortable recreation on the water
The MOBU’s bold, brutal lines and shapes are reinforced with the hull’s metallic dark grey finish and tinted glazing. However, the yacht does not look heavy: the length of 33 m and the relatively narrow beam of 7.5 m make her proportions feel elegant, while the sleek profile of the superstructure and open aft section with cascading steps add more lightness to the exterior.
The project was created around the idea that areas for socialising should shape the yacht’s architecture and not just take up some interior spaces. For this reason, the vessel’s key design element is an impressive split-level aft atrium that is 3.8 m high. It connects the cockpit with the main saloon and blurs the lines between the interior and exterior, as well as between the main and lower decks. The designers refer to it as an “interconnected social landscape”, offering an open and intuitive layout.
“We wanted the social experience to define the yacht from the inside out,” said Bilge Zaptçıoğlu Atal and Barbaros Atal, co-founders of BAZ Yacht Design. “The aft atrium is not simply a dramatic feature; it organises how people gather, move between levels and remain connected to the sea. This gave us the opportunity to create a performance yacht with a strong architectural identity and a very natural way of living on board.”
The vessel can accommodate eight guests across four cabins (a master suite, a VIP and two guest cabins), as well as a crew of up to four.
Twin D13 engines of 1,000 hp each will deliver a top speed of up to 32 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots. The draft of just 1.35 –1.40 m will allow the boat to enter shallow bays and manoeuvre confidently in marinas.
According to BAZ Yacht Design, the MOBU’s design is complete, and its future prospects depend on the interest from clients and shipyards.
