The new vessel stands out for her modern exterior that makes her different from conventional expedition yachts. Research spaces and wellness areas coexist naturally on board the Curiosity

“While designing Curiosity, my goal was to create an explorer that was different from the classic bulky line. Of course the yacht has to meet robustness and safety requirements, but I think it also has to be in absolute harmony with its surroundings, whether it is in the middle of the ice or among the islands of the Mediterranean,” said Fabio Peduzzi.

The designer describes his creation as “an openable and closable, multifunctional platform”, which can adapt to the guests and owners’ needs depending on her usage mode.

The huge laboratory space of about 80 sq.m will be dedicated to researching and preserving the maritime environment. The yacht’s diving centre is well-equipped, and there are also two submarines and a car for land exploration.

The 16-metre exploration vessel tops a whole fleet of tenders. It is stored on a retractable ramp aft and can operate independently of the mothership.

There is not only a platform for a helicopter, but also a retractable hangar for its storage and transportation.

As for the guests’ relaxation and entertainment, the Curiosity has everything a modern superyacht should have: a gym, a wellness area, a cinema and an observation deck.

The master suite boasts an impressive area and includes a bedroom, a lounge, a bathroom and a study area. There are also three double cabins for the guests or scientists, three single staff cabins and a crew area for up to 25 people.

The Curiosity is supposed to be equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion with two azimuthing thrusters chosen to provide the range and economy necessary for an explorer yacht. The yacht’s provisional cruising speed is about 12 knots.

According to Fabio Peduzzi, when creating this concept, he was drawing inspiration from the sleekness of icebergs, as well as the immense opportunities of adventures and exploration of the most remote corners of the globe that the Curiosity is capable of giving her owner.
