The distance from Demre Marina to the administrative centre of the region and Antalya airport is about 150 km on land, and it is two times shorter to the famous resorts of Fethiye and Kemer
It took Makyol İnşaat company a year and a half to complete the construction of the new marina. The area, protected by breakwaters almost all along the perimeter, can accommodate 450 vessels on the water and 250 yachts on land.
The facility is equipped with a 160-ton travel lift and maintenance workshops. The shore infrastructure currently includes a restaurant, food and yachting supermarkets, and will definitely keep developing.

The marina is suitable both for short-term visits and longer stays, as the country intends to support year-round yacht tourism activity both at the local and international levels.
At the official opening ceremony, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said that with Demre Marina inauguration Turkey’s total mooring capacity has approached 26 000. Since 2002, the number of yacht ports in the country has increased from 41 to 64. There are marinas available now in all the key coastal points, including Yalova, Seferihisar, Didim and Mersin, while in Antalya province there are marinas in Alanya, Kaş and Gazipaşa.

Until now the resort town of Demra on the Mediterranean could offer only one small Çayağzı Marina about four kilometres west of the Teke Peninsula, formerly known as the Lycian Peninsula. The new Demre Marina occupies all of its southern part and is a lot closer to the centre of the city and, therefore, to all of its the cultural and social objects. Here in Demra, known as Myra in the ancient times, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, who is the patron saint of sailors, served as the bishop at the turn of the 3rd-4th centuries AD. One can see the ruins of the ancient town of Myra, which used to be the capital of the Lycian League. There are also excavations of the ancient cities of Tyberissos, Istlada, Kyaneai and Alakilise in the surrounding area.
Visitors can also explore such pristine natural spots as Aquarium Bay, Beymelek Lagoon, Burç Bay, Burguç Spring, Buzağılık Bay and Çamlık Bay. The marina is also located near the stunning Kaleköy-Kekova, Gökova Bay, Tersane Village, Pirate’s Cave and the Bird Paradise, inhabited by about 150 different bird species.
