The announcement of the GX Superyachts company’s foundation was made in September 2024, at the Monaco Yacht Show, when the Slovenian shipyard, Greenline Yachts, launched the new brand with the aim of entering the segment of large hybrid vessels
Two years later here, in Monte Carlo, the new brand is ready to unveiled its debut: the GX42, the first model in the series of yachts ranging from 24 to 56 metres in length. She was built at the SES Yachts’ facility in Tuzla, Turkey, where all of the future GX Superyachts yachts will be manufactured.
The GX42’s exterior and interior were created by Marco Casali of Too Design studio, while the naval architecture is owed to Francesco Rogantin, the founder of NAMES.
To reduce the yacht’s weight and enhance her efficiency, both the hull and superstructure were built of aluminium. The superyacht’s length is 42.1 m, and her beam is 8.5 m.
Hybrid propulsion combined with solar panels and a large-capacity lithium battery bank will reduce onboard electricity consumption by 45% and ensure 48 hours of quiet operation at anchor.
Twin MAN D2862 engines and twin electric motors of 200 kW each will deliver a cruising speed of 14 knots and a top speed of 17 knots. The cruising speed in the electric mode will be about six knots, but the exact figures will be available after the sea trials are completed.
It is interesting to note here that all the horizontal surfaces of the GX42’s superstructure are fitted with solar panels. This integration is a signature feature of the mother company, Greenline Yachts, and the key element of its Greenline Hybrid concept: the synergy of the ecosystem does not only continuously recharge the batteries, but also powers refrigerators, lighting and other onboard appliances without running the generator.
The Merinos’s low sporty profile features large expanses of glazing, allowing abundance of natural light in the interior spaces. The exterior areas are home to a bar, a jacuzzi and seating groups. But the GX42’s main distinct feature is probably the raised pilothouse, integrated between the main and upper decks. This solution allowed the designers to preserve the yacht’s sleek proportions and leave maximum space on the main deck, which is home to a master suite with a private foredeck terrace. In addition to a bedroom, the owner’s suite includes an office, a generaous walk-in wardrobe and a bathroom with a rain shower and a double sink.
The full-beam VIP-cabin below deck is comparable to the master’s in terms of comfort and area, and features a fold-down balcony on the port side. The other three guest cabins can be configured to the needs of a large family. Two of them are double that can be turned into wins, and there is one cabin with two single beds and one extra Pullman bed.
The “timeless” style of the interior focuses on sustainability, cosiness and tranquility. American walnut dominates the wall finishes and furniture, contrasting elegantly with white leather and natural stone accents, most notably a backlit Turkish marble panel in the dining area that creates a striking visual effect. There are also special niches incorporated into the bulkheads to display works of art from the owner's private collection.

A more peaceful, healthier and more balanced onboard experience is at the heart of this new approach to responsible luxury,” said the yard’s Chief Commercial officer and member of the board, Maurizio Magri.
At present, the Merinos is undergoing sea trial in order to be delivered and unveiled in time for her debut at the major superyacht show in Monaco running on 23-26 September 2026.
