Sanlorenzo has been making the high-performance planing SL yachts since the 1980s, but the line has evolved considerably since that time and now there is letter A in the name, which stands for the innovative asymmetric design
The asymmetric version features a lateral passageway only on the starboard side, while the saloon is full-beam on the port side, which allows for maximizing the internal volume and increases the liveable space area by 20% compared to traditional hulls.
The SL80A will join the asymmetric SL line, which until recently included five models ranging from 26.6 to 36.9 m in length. Despite the smaller length, the new model does not compromise on proportions and comfort on board and offers openness and spaciousness typical of larger yachts. Moreover, thanks to the compact size and the draft of just 1.85 m, the yacht can navigate the shallowest bays, which increases her cruising potential considerably.
“With SL80A, our objective was to preserve the clarity and recognisability of the SL language within a more compact and versatile dimension,” says Bernardo Zuccon, head of Zuccon International Project that was in charge of the new model’s exterior and interior. “Every proportion, every connection between spaces and every architectural gesture was designed to create a sense of balance, openness and harmony on board. It is a yacht conceived around conviviality and life at sea, yet with a strong identity that makes it instantly recognisable as a true Sanlorenzo.”
The most compact in the SL line, the model can boast generous lounging areas: the stern cockpit opens fully towards the water, while the generous bow lounge can serve both as a sunbathing area and a convivial space for having breakfast.
The floor-to-ceiling glazing on the main deck creates a light, airy and welcoming space. The key interior highlight is the staircase connecting the saloon to the flybridge. It is a folded, micro-perforated metal structure interacting with light and geometry.
The navigation station located between the main deck and the flybridge provides optimal visibility and extra liveable space below deck. Eight guests can be accommodated across four cabins on the lower deck, including the bull-beam owner’s suite.
The interior design is described as warm and modern. The finishing materials feature Thai walnut, which creates a “natural dialogue” with the exterior teak surfaces. The headboards are decorated with the geometric “Azteca” pattern that adds depth and an exotic touch.
