Turkish RMK Yachts has created the concept of its future flagship series in collaboration with its longtime partner, Milan-based Hot Lab studio (part of the Viken Group)

The expedition superyacht with a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and teak decks will be powered by a hybrid propulsion system and boast a transatlantic range of up to 4,000 nautical miles. Her provisional top speed is 16 knots.

However, according to the creators, the Petra will stand out not only for the reliable engineering by RMK Yachts, but also the Italian elegance that all Hot Lab projects are famous for.

According to RMK Yachts design manager Cem Tasdemir, the goal with Petra was “to design a yacht that feels both timeless and deeply personal: a vessel where architecture, light and space naturally shape the way people experience life at sea”.

The project is available in Core, Aura and Infinite versions, which are three interpretations of the same technical platform varying in terms of outfitting philosophy, layout solutions and exterior finishes.

Petra Core is believed to be the purest expression of the concept with her balanced exterior, enlarged storage spaces and the most generous garage meant for long-range voyages.

The softer and more “lifestyle-oriented” Petra Aura will appeal to those who value comfort and a more relaxed onboard experience. She features warm, comfortable interiors with an extra guest cabin on the main deck, as well as larger social spaces and an entertainment room on the lower deck.

Finally, the most spacious and experience-driven version is Petra Infinite. She is a true explorer with a powerful ice-class hull, a helipad, a large tender and a crane and lots of space for storing water sports gear and toys.

According to director of RMK Yachts Cuneyt Okcu, each version has a spirit of her own. “The Petra series was conceived as a platform that embraces different lifestyles at sea. At RMK Yachts, we believe a yacht should ultimately reflect the identity of her owner, and Petra was designed to let that identity find her own horizon”.

Antonio Romano, Commercial and Marketing Director of the Viken Group and Co-Founder of Hot Lab, says: “With Petra, the Hot Lab and RMK Yachts teams have truly raised the bar. From the layout to the final presentation, every detail was developed with the market in mind, and I’m confident she will soon become an exceptional project for a discerning yachtsperson”.
