Project Supernova superyacht was ordered by a bold young customer, who is always on the move and wants a yacht that “can keep up”
Project Supernova is based on the 54-metree I Nova hull from Cosmo Explorer, which was delivered in 2013. However, Vripack is going to make a few considerable changes to it: to increase the length of the vessel by six metres, to change the shape of the bow and to reconsider her interiors completely.
A number of features are determined by the owner’s personality and hobbies. For instance, there is a well-equipped dive centre, a helipad on the bridgedeck aft with an integrated crane for a submarine and tenders, as well as a cigar lounge.
There is ample space for two 12-metre containers to store various sport and expedition gear like cars, bikes and other things for outings.
The overall interior style can be characterized as loft, which allowed for a maximally open layout with no doors. Besides, the owner wanted the interior style to feel like “classic America” and be as masculine as possible.
The interiors do remind one of a sophisticated ranch in Texas, with lots of wooden surfaces, elements of bronze and leather and furniture of oak. For example, one of the key stand-out features of the main saloon interior is that in addition to vast windows and fold-out side terraces, there is a rough hammered rock centrepiece and a designer bar stand with a calf skin topping.
There is a VIP-cabin on the main deck and four more guest cabins below deck. The owner has a dedicated deck, where in addition to the suite he can relax in a lounge with a firepit and a bar forward or observe the surroundings from the private terrace at the bow.
The spacious beach club can be accesses both from the lower deck and via the stairways from the cockpit on the main deck. Thus, the beach club works on two levels, while vast fold-out side terraces allow one to increase it even more and fit it with hammocks, chaise longues or comfortable armchairs to relax by the water.
According to Vripack’s co-creative director Marnix Hoekstra, the owner wanted to feel as though he was in touch with the sky, water and nature, so the studio came up with glass walkways on both sides, which allow the guests of the main saloon to admire amazing sea views.
