The organiser of J/70 Saint Petersburg Cup is PROyachting company with the support of St Petersburg sailing union
The first stage of the Cup took place in the Northern Capital on 14-16 June 2024. The second stage was held on 19-21 July, and the third one is scheduled for 16-18 August at Smolenka yacht port: participants registration is already open.
The first stage had an interesting finish: the top three teams got 12 points each, so the winner had to be determined based on the additional parameters. In the end, the “Black Swan” was announced the winner, as they came first in two out of six races of the stage.
As a result of five races held in the first two racing days, this team became the champion of the second stage, too. The silver went to “Sail&Sea”, and the third leader is “This Is The Way”.
The unpredictable Baltic weather gave the competitors a chance to demonstrate their strengths in absolutely different weather conditions: the sun took turns with rain, and the wind ranged from 2 to 15 knots. “Rains came from the East, North and South. The wind kept changing and sometimes subsided to a complete calm”, commented the chief secretary of the event, Anna Vavilova.
