Azimut Verve 48: a dream cruiser
The Verve series from Azimut Yachts is a combination of two almost radically different boat concepts
The series couples elegant Italian design with the power, functionality and ergonomics of American centre console powerboats, resulting in elegant, comfortable and rather large weekend cruisers powered by outboard engines that are normally used for more compact powerboats.
The first model, Azimut Verve 40, unveiled in 2017, was aimed at the American market, where centre console boats have always been in demand. However, with time this concept grew popular in other parts of the globe, too. For instance, the Verve 47, unveiled in 2020, sold 110 hulls. And in 2023 she was replaced with the new Verve 48.
This powerful and maneuverable boat is equipped with three Mercury V12 engines of 600 hp each, which allow her to reach a top speed of up to 50 knots. Compared to the Verve 47, which features four engines of 450 hp – and that is exactly the same horsepower – the fuel consumption is 15% lower, and the noise has gone down by 10 dВ.
Michael Peters, “an unsurpassed master of fast hulls”, designed a hydrodynamic hull with very low water resistance – the Stepped 'V' Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT). It ensures a soft and decisive entry to the waves and a highest level of comfort at high speeds. Mercury V12 engines create tremendous torque on acceleration, lifting the boat onto plane in seconds. The hull diverts spray beautifully, leaving the windshield almost dry even at the speeds close to maximum.
Among other benefits of the new model there is a 35% larger deck area compared to the Verve 47, and a far larger swimming platform. The fold-out “wing” on the port side, which extends the area of the cockpit at anchor, has also got bigger. And the carbon fibre hardtop has been redesigned, too: there is a larger sunroof now.
The sporty character of this boat is balanced by the welcoming atmosphere inside. During the day the Verve 48 can accommodate up to 12 guests. In addition to a triple helm seat, the cockpit houses a large sofa with a convertible table.
Behind the helm seats there is a well-appointed kitchen island with a couple of fridges, a barbecue and an ice maker. In addition to the opportunity to serve lunches and dinners at sunset, this layout ensures the freedom of movement.
Another amazing al fresco spot is on the foredeck. In addition to a sunpad, there is a sofa for six and a table with a fixed stainless steel base.
There are two cabins below deck. The owner’s cabin is located forward, and the second twin cabin is aft.
The dinette-galley is located amidships and features a sofa that can easily be converted into an extra double bed.
Thus, the boat that is just 15 metres long can sleep up to 6 people.
