Capetown-based Balance Catamarans yard is well-known for its cruising sailing catamarans capable of dealing equally well with challenging weather conditions and light winds
At present the yard manufactures six models ranging from the 13 to 24 metres. At the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival 2024, which will take place on 10-15 September, Balance Catamarans will feature two of its multihulls: the Balance 442 and the Balance 526.
Both boats boast real simplicity of handling, which allows for single-handed operation – provided there is some necessary experience. Besides, they are both equipped with VersaHelm, so the rudder wheel can pivot 90 degrees from its standard position and allows one to pilot the boat from inside the cockpit sheltered with a hard top.
The Balance 442 is an entry level 13.5-metre model (44 ft). Despite the compact size, she is a real offshore boat. The catamaran named Lasai, which will be showcased at the Cannes Festival, is built in a three-cabin version with an entire port hull left for the owner. Besides, there is also an office aft, which can be transformed into another cabin if necessary.
The Balance 526 is 16 metres long (52 ft), and is built of epoxy with carbon reinforcements. This allowed for an extremely low weight of just 12.5 tonnes and a really high speed. However, the sport character of the Balance 526 does not make it a less comfortable boat, as she offers a high-end interior.
