CL Yachts is a truly international brand
Its parent company, Cheoy Lee shipbuilding corporation, is based in Hong Kong; its production is in mainland China; the yachts are designed by Italian Jozeph Forakis from Milan; and the headquarters are in Fort Lauderdale (Florida).
In 2022 the largest for the time 29.5 CLX96 model had her debut at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, where she collected several awards. After this success the brand decided to get over the 30-metre bar, which means entering the superyacht segment, and to introduce the 30.5-metre CLX99. At first glance the new CLX99 seems similar to the CLX96 in styling. However, the larger length and internal volume allowed the creators to refine the design elements and add more superyacht features.
“The hull is the same great hull as CLX96,” confirms Martin Lo, CL Yachts Director, “with its excellent design ensuring performance, stability, handling, and sea-worthiness, but the beach area has been extended and the new yacht reaches an overall length of 100 feet. Indeed, there are substantial differences in terms of naval architecture, layout, and choice of materials and finishes. The desire to create this new model stems from an analysis of market and owner needs, combined with the aim of having a version that can satisfy all markets, including the Asia and European ones, as well as the secondary charter market.”
The main deck has been extended by two metres, which resulted in the reorganization of the interior space. The CLX99 offers a spacious dining area forward with an adjacent galley and a portside access for the crew. Combined with a large observation lounge it all turns into a generous, versatile space.
The lower deck’s layout has been reconsidered, too. In her standard version the CLX99 offers five ample cabins: a large full-beam master cabin, two VIPs forward and two guest twins. The crew quarters are located aft, between the master cabin and the engine room, ensuring additional noise insulation for the owner. Thanks to the ability to accommodate a crew of five, the CLX99 is highly suitable for charter operations.
The future owners are also offered an alternative layout with a master cabin located forward in place of the dining area, while retaining the five guest cabins below deck and thus bringing the number of guests up to 12.
The sundeck with a skylounge and an upper helm have been modified to optimize the proportions and take the CLX to the next level of luxury. The CLX99 has kept the trademark ‘Terrazza Portoghese’- a spacious open lounge area forward of the bridge, but a lot has changed inside the wheelhouse. The skylounge has increased by over 3 sq.m, and the helm is now separated from the saloon, so that the captain could work comfortably without interfering with the guests. The windows of the skylounge can be lowered, so this area can be made almost as open as the aft sundeck.
The beach club now has drop down bulwarks, which form sea terraces. There is also an option for a jacuzzi on the foredeck.
The CLX99’s performance characteristics have not been revealed yet, but one can assume they are close to those of the CLX96 with a top speed of up to 24-25 knots.
