The Amer 499 Spacesplorer by Italian Amer Yachts is said to combine the features of a rugged explorer vessel with the comfortable living spaces of a traditional superyacht
Amer Yachts has announced that the Amer 499 Spacesplorer has been moved to its facility in Pisa for outfitting and finishing.
The concept of the vessel designed in collaboration with Antonio Luxardo and Optima Design studio has preserved such exterior features of the Amer Steel series as a vertical bow, elongated hull and inverted glass wheelhouse making the new model look like an explorer.
At the same time, Amer Yachts has designed the project to "experience the sea from an entirely new perspective”. The Amer 499 Spacesplorer’s seaworthiness makes her efficient and stable during long passages, yet capable of reaching a good speed when necessary.
The designers have enhanced the balance of materials and weight. The hull with a length of 49.45 m and a beam of 9.20 m is made from high-tensile AH36 marine steel, and her superstructure is made from aluminium, which, in combination with lighter engines, optimises the vessel’s weight distribution and increases the interior volume to 499 GT without adding weight to the structure.
Instead of heavy massive engines typically found on 50-metre steel yachts, the Amer 499 Spacesplorer is powered by four lightweight and compact Volvo Penta IPS 40 engines, ensuring lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions, high manoeuvrability thanks to steerable drive pods, and a significant decrease in noise and vibration levels on board. According to the yard, the vessel will have a provisional top speed of up to 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
The Amer 499 Spacesplorer will boast expansive glazing and enhanced deck layout.
The sundeck with a length of almost 18 m is home to a jacuzzi, a bar and a dining area. The focal point on the main deck is the elongated open aft section featuring a stepped configuration. There will be a large pool, a sunbathing area, a lounge and a dining area protected from the wind, as well as fold-down side terraces thanks to which this area becomes even more spacious.
The main saloon with an area of 140 sq.m features a fold-down balcony, too, which converts into an 8-square-metre “sea terrace” right over the water.
The details about the interior designed by Manuel Thollot of L’Apostrophe studio are currently kept under wraps. It is known that the yacht will accommodate up to ten guests. The owner’s suite with an adjoining private terrace of 75 sq.m will be located on the main deck, and there will be four guest cabins below deck that will boast vast windows measuring approximately one by two metres.
The crew will consist of nine people. The Amer 499 Spacesplorer’s launch and delivery are scheduled for the summer of 2027.
