The shipbuilders position the Edge 65 as “an ideal sporty motor yacht for families and groups of friends”
The all-aluminium vessel is powered by four 600 hp Mercury V12 outboards, capable of delivering a top speed of 40 knots.
One of the yacht’s significant benefits is her draft of 0.92 m, which allows for navigating shallow waters like the Bahamas.
With an overall length of 19.60 m (18.46 m LWL) and a beam of 4.80 m, the yacht’s full load displacement based on the preliminary data is 35 ton.
The naval architecture for the Edge 65 was developed by Studio Delta Naval Architects and her exterior design was entrusted to Cor D. Rover Design.
The interior spaces and outdoor decks of the vessel are owed to Carla Guilhem Design, and it is this studio’s work that the Dutch shipyard has decided to demonstrate by unveiling the first renderings of the yacht’s guest areas.
Prior to starting her work, Brazilian designer Carla Guilhem spent time getting to know the first unit. “Even at the high speeds of which this boat is capable, the trips were amazingly stable and relaxing with no slamming. She rides the waves like a comfortable Bentley and the design reflects this with a masculine, car-like aesthetic. Clean lines & shapes and very light spaces are blended with grey and black tones to provide an easy-on-the-eye sense of harmony. The Edge 65 is a seriously cool yacht”, said the designer.
Carla has offered a fresh look at the yacht’s social areas. The flybridge has been turned into a vast lounge with a giant U-shaped sofa and a low round table, while the helm station seems to be its continuation and features a contemporary, minimalist style. A similar solution has been used for the helm on the main deck, where it has also been raised above the guest area.
The galley on the starboard side is “hidden” in a trendy kitchen unit, and there is a small lounge with a sofa opposite. The dining area is in the cockpit, followed by the lounge located slightly lower, which can also be used for sunbathing. This kind of arrangement does make a lot of sense, as the boat is meant for a warm climate primarily, while the designer was limited in space, but wanted to create a maximum comfortable and relaxing atmosphere on board. The split levels of the main deck add variety and zone the area naturally, while bringing together everything guests might need for relaxation and having fun. In addition, there is a private lounge on the foredeck with a huge sunpad.
Below deck, there is enough space for three cabins with a master forward and two twin cabins on the sides. There are just two bathrooms, none of which seems to be a master one, so all the guests are free to use them.
While light shades have been used generously for the main deck, with just a few dark and bronze elements for contrast, the guest areas below deck are dominated by wooden and grey surfaces, various textures, marble and black matte inserts.
As it has already been reported, work on the second Edge 65 unit is well underway, and she is expected to be ready in 2025.
