The fourth yacht in the Truly Classic 90 (TC 90) series has been launched at Shipborn facilitiy in Nieuwegein (Netherlands)
The yacht christened Joal is quite a rare specimen for the market. She isn’t based on a model by a particular shipyard, but built to a project developed by Dutch Hoek Design Naval Architects, which is known as one of the best in boat design. Its portfolio includes rather diverse projects: sailing and motor yachts; custom vessels designed from scratch and small series with a wide range of customization options. At the same time the studio obviously gravitates towards the classic design of the first half of the 20th century, which makes its projects stand out in the market.
Truly Classic 90 (Hoek TC90) is one of such series. On the basis of this “platform” three classic sailboats were built from 2008 to 2017 at Dutch Claasen yard in Zaandam: Kealoha, Atalante and Acadia.
Although the recently launched Joal is based on the same project, she is quite different from them. Firstly, she was built at the new Shipborn facility in Nieuwegein (Netherlands), developed by the yacht’s owner. Secondly, the Joal has a custom open-plan layout and a hydraulic side boarding platform with a retractable ladder.
Not many details have been revealed yet, except that there are three double cabins for the guests and a berth for one crew member, which confirms the assumption that the owner is an experienced yachtsman, who is going to handle the boat mainly by himself.
The Joal has an aluminium hull of 27.5 m and a beam of 6.1 m, rigging by Hall Spars, and a sail area of 449 sq.m.
