The new yacht is a more compact version of larger models in the series of luxury explorers called Deep Blue launched in 2022
The series builds up on the success of the 43.12-metre yacht named Acala (now Orixa), which was initially conceived as an individual project. Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) got so many requests from the owners who wanted to repeat the same yacht concept that it decided to expand the series.
The entire Deep Blue series was designed by Horacio Bozzo. “We conceived the Deep Blue 115 as a truly pocket gentleman’s superyacht with a strong explorer DNA and designed her lines to stand the test of time with elegance. We successfully incorporated all the signature features of the larger yachts in her range. Rather than simply scaling down the lines and volumes, we redesigned them to suit the required dimensions. The result is an exceptionally well-balanced yacht, where each element combines elegance with functionality,” said the designer.
One of the Octopus’s most recognizable elements is her tinted glazing with inconspicuous crossbars, which makes the white horizontal levels of the superstructure appear to be floating.
The layouts offer numerous options for spending time on board, from quiet relaxation at the sundeck bar and watching movies in the open-air cinema on the foredeck to active recreation aft, where there is a wide swim platform and a garage for a tender and various water toys. It should also be noted that the pool located next to the seating group in the cockpit has a tank to store treated water while underway, while the cockpit itself features fold-down terraces on both sides.
Axis Group Yacht Design was entrusted to develop both the naval architecture and engineering of the Deep Blue 115. The yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure has a length of 35 m (waterline length of 32.8 m), a beam of 7.55 m and a draft of 2.45 m, while the displacement at full load is 325 tonnes.
The hull with full lines and pronounced chines allows the Deep Blue 115 to provide stability in any weather conditions. Twin Caterpillar C18 engines of 533 kW each deliver a top speed of 13.5-14 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots, while in the economy mode of 9 knots the yacht boasts a range of 5,500 nautical miles.
Five guest cabins including the owner’s suite on the main deck can accommodate ten people. In case it is necessary, Pullman beds can be added to increase the number of guests up to 12. There are four cabins for a crew of seven, too.
The Octopus’s interior is owed Cassetta Yacht Designers. According to the founder of the studio, Giorgio Cassetta, “Her interiors are an eclectic homage to the idea of voyaging, and they are full of colour and surprises. Organic shapes, fine detail and exotic materials combine into a kaleidoscope that fills the eyes with wonder. Octopus reminds us that a yacht is a dream, and in its uncompromised execution, she embodies such spirit.”
“The enthusiasm generated by Acala has been truly remarkable,” added Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and CEO of Cantiere delle Marche. “What began as a unique project has evolved into a new opportunity for us to further explore and develop a design language that clearly resonates with our clients. The Deep Blue 115, together with two Deep Blue 141 still in the pipeline to be delivered to their owners in 2027 and 2028, confirms the strength and vision behind our proposals, as well as our ability to transform concepts into successful series”.
