D-Marin has invested €8.5 millon in Gouvia's upgrade

Gouvia Marina is the first privately owned marina in Greece and the largest one in Corfu: even before the upgrade it was capable of accommodating 1,200 yachts up to 80 m long

D-Marin, a company that manages dozens of modern yacht ports around the world, has taken on the task of upgrading Gouvia’s design, enhancing its technical parameters and making it even more convenient for yachtsmen and tourists.

Gouvia Marina can now boast 104 new berths for vessels up to 50 metres long. The investment of €8.5 million was aimed not only at the expansion of its capacity, but at updating all of its facilities, systems and public areas.

One should note that it is the first Greek marina to generate renewable energy with a solar power system installed in site. The 100 kWp photovoltaic system is expected to generate about 167 MWh of electricity per year, covering about 20% of the marina’s energy needs.

In addition, environmental and safety systems have also been updated, including high-pressure water filtration, low-energy LED lighting, charging stations for electric vehicles, fire detection systems, emergency alarms and more accessibility features.

Wi-Fi coverage has improved throughout the site, and now there are smart pedestals at each berth that allow one to control electricity and water use remotely with the help of a mobile application.

Onshore space has been increased by 6,000 sq.m of dry storage and parking areas. Internal roads have been resurfaced, restroom and shower facilities renewed.

The waterfront has been converted into a pedestrian-only area, with more than 2,000 trees and plants added and a modern playground. Now there is also an amphitheatre, allowing the marina to host concerts, all kinds of cultural events and film screenings.

Gouvia Marina is six kilometres to the north of the island’s capital, Corfu, and seven kilometres from the airport. The location between the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas makes the marina an important hub for all those involved in maritime activity in the region.

“The upgrade of Gouvia Marina goes far beyond infrastructure. It is a complete transformation that combines construction excellence, technological innovation and sustainability, while creating a premium destination that is open, vibrant and closely connected to the local community of Corfu”, said Ioannis Koutsodontis, regional director of D-Marin Greece.
