Sirena 48: coupe version with hybrid propulsion

When the flybridge Sirena 48 premiered at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023, Sirena Marine had already sold twenty hulls

Even before the world debut the shipyard’s customers were beguiled by the attractive appearance of this three-cabin model and a smart use of space on board. The new version of the Sirena 48 inherited all those features. The difference is that the flybridge has been replaced with a coupé-style coach roof with glass and solar panels. Besides, the yacht got a new hybrid propulsion system. The new version looks so elegant, that the shipyard is anticipating great demand from the customers who normally opt for conventional diesel propulsion packages, too.

The coupé-style roof does not only make Sirena 48 look more sporty, but brings more natural light to the main deck saloon, and what is more important, it decreases the weight and the windage, improving her performance and the range of the electric propulsion. The solar panels installed on the roof contribute to a larger range of the yacht, too.

"The hardtop design is particularly well suited to the hybrid drive system, and offers a remarkable solution in terms of aesthetics while maximising the number of solar panels,” says Sirena Yachts CEO, Cagin Genc. “We have been working hard to integrate a robust, meaningful hybrid option for some time. And though we are starting with our latest 48ft yacht model, we are able to implement the solution on any of the yachts in our range, which runs up to 88ft.”

With twin 213 kW electric motors the hybrid Sirena 48 can reach a top speed of 14 knots. In a silent electric mode she can draw power directly from the large battery bank, which allows for up to 30 nautical miles. Then, to increase the speed and range, she involves the variable speed generators to produce electric energy and charge up the accumulators. They are much more efficient at it compared to diesel engines, and a lot quieter, as they don’t have any propellers, which brings the noise and vibration down to the minimum. As a result, when the boat reaches her destination, the accumulators are charged again, which allows one to spend the night in total silence: there is no need to start the generators for another eight hours, even with the air-conditioning, a fridge and other equipment turned on.
