The keel of the yacht previously known as Project 13759, and later the Cosmos, was laid in January 2022. The technical launch took place in August 2025, and now the Nausicaä has left the North Sea and is on her way to Gibraltar

The yacht was commissioned by a Japanese owner, so designer Marc Newson, who was in charge of the vessel’s exterior and interior, did his best to ensure the Nausicaä had both refined beauty and cutting-edge engineering. Based on the Japanese philosophy, he avoided any visual clutter, tried making all the living areas maximally functional yet ensured every single design element was aesthetically immaculate.

The megayacht’s architecture features almost no flat surfaces or angular lines, and is dominated by curves and streamlined, rounded shapes.

One of the exterior’s highlights is the continuous broad glass band, wrapping around the entire second deck and offering superb views. The visibility is particularly impressive from the full-beam observation lounge at the bow with a helipad above it.

Another impressive feature is the glass Skydome with an area of 56 sq.m and a height of 3.15 m, located on the upper deck, which required each of the seven panes of 3000 х 2800 mm, 62 mm thick and a weight of 1,050 kg each to be hot-bent by gravity under precisely controlled conditions. The owner can admire the 360-degree views of the sea or a starry sky not only from the private terrace, but from the private office, too.

Another feature that is worth mentioning is the open aft are, which is home to a jacuzzi and a pool that is deep enough for diving. The beach deck curves around the dry dock below, where a 16-tonne sledge mechanism allows a 12.5-metre sportsfish tender to be lifted and launched. When the tender is on the water, the dock turns into a protected teak-finished area that can be enclosed by a flat hydraulic beam.

The Nausicaä’s interior design is quite unconventional. The main saloon is an impressive split-level atrium. There is a large sculptural installation in the centre, surrounded by other artworks.  At the top level of the atrium there is a circular balcony that can serve as a convenient viewing platform, while the aft section features a sushi bar, a table tennis and comfortable integrated seating.

The yacht can accommodate 18 guests and a crew of 36. The internal volume of 6,593 GT allowed Newson to offer generous guest suites, but the details are kept under wraps.

However, the yard has shared the information about the gagayacht’s performance characteristics. In fact, she is a gigantic expedition vessel capable of exploring “all five major oceans – and all seven continents”. The steel hull was built to Ice Class 1D specifications, so the vessel can be operated in “light ice” conditions.

The Nausicaä is powered by five engines (two primary and three auxiliary ones), which can deliver a provisional top speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.

Moreover, there is an option of installing a methanol fuel cell system to produce “green” electricity and function in a zero-emission mode hotel mode for up to 15 days or go for low-speed cruising trips up to 1,000 nautical miles.
