Columbus Crossover 47 offers a blend of modern aesthetics, capabilities of an expedition vessel and the comfort of a traditional superyacht
The basis of the new Crossover 47 is a proven platform that the yard has already used for the 42-metre model currently under construction. “Columbus Crossover 47 combines contemporary aesthetics with practicality to offer a unique experience, where every detail responds to the balance between luxury and functionality”, commented the Italian shipbuilders on the Crossover 47’s features.
In fact, the Crossover 47 is an attempt to take the best from the expedition superyachts with their excellent seakeeping characteristics and capacity to carry a decent amount of equipment, as well as all the traditional benefits of “white” superyachts. For this very reason, the Crossover 47 features comfortable spaces on board a steel displacement hull with a high bulbous bow, an aluminium superstructure and large open spaces aft.
The length of the vessel is 47 m, the beam is 8.60 m, and the maximum draft is 3 m.
As the Hydro Tec studio run by Sergio Cutolo is an expert in expedition boats, it was entrusted not only with the naval architecture, but the exterior design of the Crossover 47, too. The comfort onboard and interior styling are taken care of by Hot Lab studio.
The new vessel has a number of features that are worth mentioning. Thus, the aft section of the main deck was designed to be able to accommodate a large tender of up to 3000 kg that can be transformed into an “oasis for relaxation”, with a jacuzzi, a sunbathing area, fold-out side terraces and a direct access to the sea.
Another ample exterior area with a jacuzzi, a lounge, a large bar and sunpads is located on the sundeck partially covered with a hard top.
The Crossover 47 has everything necessary to accommodate comfortably up to 12 guests in five cabins. The master suite is located on the main deck forward, and in addition to the bedroom, can boast a huge wardrobe, a double bathroom with central shower, a vanity desk on the port side and an office area at the entrance. There are two double and two twin cabins below deck with an extra pullman bed.
The interior social areas include the main saloon with a dining area and a lounge, as well as a cozy sky lounge with an ample sofa on the upper deck. This level is also home to a compact al fresco dining area capable of accommodating six guests (expandable up to 10).
The yacht will be powered by twin diesel Caterpillar C32 engines of 970 kW each, which can deliver a top speed of up to 15 knots. The cruising speed is 12 knots, while in the eonomy mode of 10 knots the Crossover 47 can cover up to 5000 nautical miles without refuelling. The yacht will also be equipped with two desalinators and two pairs of stabilizers capable of working both under way and at anchor.
The delivery of the new superyacht is scheduled for 2027.
