Construction on the 194.9-metre expedition yacht, which will be the largest in the world, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026

As we have reported earlier, construction on the yacht started in 2017 at Norwegian Vard shipyard, but in 2021 there was a break due to technical issues. Not long ago, it was announced that Dutch Damen will finish the project and soon the REV Ocean will head for Vlissingen (Netherlands), where she will spend the next 15-18 months. There is a plan that the REV Ocean will spend 25% of her time chartering, while the rest of the time will be dedicated to science and marine conservation projects.

Meanwhile, the central agency for REV Ocean’s charter, Burgess, has revealed the renderings of her interiors. The vessel will feature numerous outdoor lounges, a tennis court, swimming pool, spa and other facilities for charter guests.

According to the comment from Burgess, launching REV Ocean to the charter market will be a milestone for the entire yachting industry. “This is more than a vessel – it’s a global platform for the most unique guest experiences filled with ocean discovery, marine conservation, and meaningful impact. By seamlessly integrating research with expeditions, it sets a new benchmark for how yachting can transform the guest experience, offering unmatched access to the rarest and most extraordinary opportunities,” said Ben Harwood, sales and charter director at Burgess.

The vessel will be equipped with the state-of-the-art oceanography equipment, allowing it to survey currents, the seabed, fish, animals and plant life. There will also be a submarine hangar, a HiPAP system to track subsea equipment and a science lab. A 3D printing equipment and metal shop will allow the team to create spare parts right on board.

There will be a media room for conducting livestreamed podcasts and interviews with people on board. The team is already in touch with documentary makers from such companies as Netflix and Disney.

As the owner, Norwegian businessman Kjell Inge Røkke, explained, REV Ocean will welcome researchers, environmental groups and other institutions on board, for them to acquire new skills to evolve innovative solutions and to address challenges  connected to the ocean.

There is a plan that REV Ocean's maiden voyage will be to the Arctic via the Norwegian coast, after which she will head for the Southern Ocean via the United States and South America.
