The races for modern sport J/70 yachts were organized by PROyachting company.
The results of the final stage have not just determined the strongest teams of the stage, but the winner of the season, too, as the final stage gave the teams double points in the overall standings and could affect their position dramatically.
On the first day of the race Sochi met the participants with perfect weather: it was sunny, +14°C, and a stable wind of 7-9 knots. Three races were held, as a result of which the leader was Artur Kotlyarov’s ESSE team.
The leader in the overall standings, #enJoin Sailing team (Ekaterina Yerkina), came second. Segey Rvalov’s Assorti team, which is the main contender for silver in the season standings, came third with a gap of just five points.
On Saturday the race could not be held because of the weather, but Sunday was perfect for racing. With a stable south-east wind of 8-10 knots, five more races took place, but the top three remained unchanged, with ESSE team winning the final stage.
“It’s the first time our team has taken part in the Sochi Winter Cup, as our main location is Petersburg. All eight races were dynamic, and all the teams showed a good level. The changeable wind conditions did not allow all the teams to climb the podium. We were a bit luckier. Our impression of the races is excellent, and now we are thinking of taking part in the Winter Cup 2025/26”, said Artur Kotlyarov.
With a gap of just two points #enJoin Sailing team came second in the final stage, which didn’t affect its position as the winner of the Winter Cup.
